Words That Empower

Supportive communication to build
confidence, motivation, and resilience

Have you ever said something with the best intentions—only for it to be misunderstood?

Perhaps your words sounded more critical than you intended. Your encouragement failed to motivate. Or a conversation left you wondering:

“Why didn’t that come across the way I meant it?”

We communicate constantly, yet we rarely stop to consider how the subconscious mind processes our words. Certain everyday expressions can unintentionally focus attention on limitations, reinforce doubt, or leave people feeling discouraged—including the language we use with ourselves.

What if a small shift in wording could make your message feel more supportive, motivating, and empowering?

Say It So It Lands is an interactive workshop that explores how the subconscious mind responds to language. You’ll discover how to recognise unhelpful language patterns and choose words that more clearly express what you mean—helping you and the people around you feel understood, uplifted, and empowered.

Are your words creating the response you want?

The language we use every day can have more influence than we realise.

A well-intended warning may focus attention on the very thing we want someone to avoid. Encouragement can sound like criticism. Words such as try, but, should, and don’t can unintentionally reinforce pressure, doubt, or limitation.

The same is true of our inner dialogue. The way we speak to ourselves can either support confidence and possibility or quietly undermine them.

When we understand how the subconscious mind responds to language, we can begin choosing words that communicate what we actually want.

A different approach to communication

Most communication advice focuses on what to say. This workshop goes a little deeper.

Drawing on teachings from Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), we’ll explore how the subconscious mind interprets language—and why your words may not always create the response you intended.

You’ll discover:

  • Common words and phrases that can unintentionally discourage or limit
  • How to express what you want instead of focusing on what you want to avoid
  • Ways to make your language more supportive, motivating, and empowering
  • Why different people may hear and interpret the same message differently
  • A simple technique for shifting unhelpful self-talk

You’ll leave with a fresh understanding of the power of words and practical language shifts you can begin using straight away.

The aim is not to find the perfect words. It is to become more aware of the messages your words may be reinforcing—and to choose them with greater intention.

What you’ll discover

By the end of this 75-minute workshop, you will have:

  • A greater awareness of how your everyday language affects you
  • An introduction to the NLP relationship between words, thoughts, and behaviour
  • Examples of common expressions you may choose to reframe
  • A simple way to express what you want rather than what you want to avoid
  • An introduction to visual, auditory, kinaesthetic, and analytical language
  • Ideas for bringing more curiosity into conversations
  • A values-based reflection exercise
  • A breathing and language practice you can use in daily life

Most importantly, you will begin to hear your own words differently and gain more choice in the language you use.

Who is this workshop for?

Say It So It Lands is for anyone who wants to communicate with greater awareness and have a more positive impact through their words.

It may be especially valuable if you:

  • Sometimes feel misunderstood
  • Want to motivate or encourage others more effectively
  • Notice that your message doesn’t always create the response you intended
  • Want to develop more supportive self-talk
  • Work with, teach, coach, lead, support, or care for others
  • Are curious about the relationship between language, thoughts, and behaviour

The ideas can be applied in relationships, families, education, coaching, leadership, workplaces, and everyday life.

What to expect

This is a practical and engaging workshop filled with relatable examples, personal reflection, and simple exercises.

You’ll have opportunities to notice your own language patterns, experiment with more supportive alternatives, and experience how a small change in wording can create a very different feeling.

You won’t be given scripts to memorise or told that certain words are always “wrong.” Instead, you’ll learn to listen to your language differently and choose your words with greater intention.
